The hotel is a strong supporter of local issues and plays an active role in the development and enrichment of the community. In 2007, we were awarded the SEI Award for Renewable Energy, an accolade we feel rewards and highlights the company’s commitment to the environment and it protection.
Renewable Energy
Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa uses one of Irelands most innovative environmental heating systems in keeping with its strong environmental credentials. Using one of the largest solar arrays in Ireland in conjunction with wood pellet boilers, heat recovery systems and improving the efficiency of the existing heating infrastructure. This has an annual CO2 saving of 500 tonnes per annum.
Recycling and Waste Management
Recycling and good management of waste has been an important part of the philosophy of the hotel for many years and continues to evolve each year.
Waste is separated into streams for recycling or disposal.
• Food waste is composted and used on green areas around the property
• Paper, cardboard and plastic are bailed and recycled
• Glass is crushed on site and recycled
