It's that time of year again when West Cork sets all the tables for a sumptuous celebration of the finest and most delicious foods from Ireland’s best producers and chefs. A Taste of West Cork Food Festival is taking place from the 4th to the 13th of September 2015. This year’s festival is going to be bigger and better than ever before and that’s saying something. There will be the much loved open air street food and craft market, the famous Celtic Cook-Off, cookery competitions, themed nights in restaurants throughout West Cork, traditional music nights and many tasty and mouth-watering special events.
The Festival is a celebration of food and the produce and people that come together in West Cork to create the unique experience all of our guests and visitors know so well. And if that wasn't enough it also actively promotes everything about West Cork that makes it such a unique destination. As the organisers say, “Food carries an inherent feeling of nurture, comfort and gratification. Healthy, naturally produced, fresh tasting and beautifully prepared food further enhances our feeling of wellbeing. Place this in a geographical area of wild and wonderful natural beauty layered with ancient spirituality and human tragedy and liberally sprinkled with a purity of culture, art and craft and the result is "West Cork - a place apart!"
This year the Festival brings together a unique mix of food markets and cooking demonstrations, food tasting and cookery competitions, special dinners, brunches, and banquets, talks and exhibits, children's events, adventures and more. From Bandon to Beara, there will be something to tempt every palate and many of the events staged throughout the festival week are free or minimum charges apply so there is also something to suit everyone’s pocket.
Here at The Inchydoney Lodge and Spa, we will be hosting a sumptuous Gala Dinner that will take our diners on a culinary trip through the gastronomy of West Cork. Adam Medcalf, our Head Chef, will be creating a menu showcasing West Cork’s superb fresh produce and award winning artisan products, with ingredients sourced from Shellfish De La Mer, Keohanes Seafood, Skeaghanore Duck, The Real Olive Company, Bushby’s Strawberries to name but a few. The finest wines from Tindals, carefully chosen to match each course, will be served to compliment the explosion of flavours that will be on every plate. Our Gala Diner will take place on Thursday 3rd September 7.30pm. The evening will commence with a drinks reception, followed by a seven course tasting menu. Tickets are €65 per person and can be purchased at reception, Ph: 023 8833143. And why not as a special treat, take advantage of our special Bed & Breakfast rate that night of €69 per person sharing. It promises to be a night to remember. Discover West Cork, Taste West Cork! We look forward to welcoming you.
