Peach of a Beach

June 17, 2015

Having already been voted best beach in the country by TripAdvisor, we are also delighted to be named again as one of Ireland’s cleanest and safest beaches by An Taisce.  It is with great pride that the Blue and Green Flag will fly high above our shore. Both these flags represent our beach for its clean environment, excellent water quality, and natural beauty.

Our waters are clean and safe and monitored regularly so that our bathers, surfers and anglers, can enjoy our sea and shore throughout the year.  We have the most wonderful and professional life guards on duty to offer advice and watch over all who come here to swim or paddle or engage with the sea.  Our long sandy shore is kept clean and managed so that all the activities, the fun and adventure we associate with the beach can be revelled in.  We’ve even had a proposal on Inchydoney Beach!

At Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa, the sea is our most constant guest. Come join us this summer to swim or maybe just to lie in the sands and embrace the wonder of our Atlantic Ocean.  For the more adventurous, we have one of Ireland’s finest surf schools where the beginner can avail of wet suits and surfboards and lessons too.  In our shallows, you can wade out with long rods and catch the bounties of the day.  When the tide is low, there is a walk that will take you all around our island to savour the coastline, the dunes and back again to the blue and green light of the shimmering sea.

You might see us all this Saturday morning hosting our Beach Area Clean Up where we all come together for a morning of cleaning and tidying.  For the Blue and Green Flag is not just a reward for all our efforts but also a reminder for us to continue in making sure that Inchydoney Beach remains one of Ireland’s cleanest and safest as well as Ireland’s favourite.  For anyone wishing to join in, we will be there from 10am to 12pm this Saturday, June 20th.   All are welcome to lend a hand and afterwards we would love all our volunteers to join us at Inchydoney Lodge and Spa for some refreshments for what should be a morning of craic, good chats, and work well worth doing.  For all else, know that we will always be endeavouring to have our Blue and Green Flag forever marking our beach as second to none.
